I’m Sue Hunter and this is why I do this work…

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: if people are paying for advice, it should genuinely serve them as human beings, not just satisfy systems, rules or technical requirements.

This conviction comes from many years working at senior level across law, financial advice, leadership and governance, where I have seen first-hand what helps people thrive and what quietly undermines good outcomes.

We seek advice at moments that matter. Sometimes because something difficult or unexpected has happened. Sometimes because we want to plan thoughtfully for the future but struggle to create the space or clarity to do so. In those moments, what people really need is not just technical accuracy, but understanding, judgement, perspective and a sense that the advice is truly aligned with their lives, values and responsibilities.

I believe deeply that our “human-ness” is not a weakness in professional life, it is the point. As technology and systems become more powerful, the qualities that will matter most are the human ones: how well people work together, the health of teams and cultures, the ability to collaborate well, exercise judgement, hold responsibility and lead with integrity. Respect for people matters at every level, whether they are the client seeking advice, the professional providing it, or part of the wider organisational ecosystem that supports the work. Professional organisations that prioritise systems at the expense of people risk losing their soul, and ultimately wither over time as clients and talent choose to go elsewhere.

In practice, I draw on my experience across law, financial advice, leadership and governance to help clients make sense of complex advice, understand what they really need, ask better questions of their advisers, and ensure that technical solutions genuinely serve their lives and long-term direction. Much of my work is about preventing problems before they arise and helping people see that what feels impossible often has more choice and possibility than first appears.

The same purpose underpins my work with professionals and organisations. I care about helping people develop the human capabilities that cannot be automated, so they can continue to serve clients well, exercise strong judgement and remain relevant in a changing world. Supporting people to think well, lead authentically and work in ways that honour both performance and humanity feels essential for the future of professional life.

This is work I care deeply about, not only for individual clients and organisations, but for the health and integrity of the professions and systems we all rely on.

And fear not, whilst I take my work seriously, I am always ready to have fun with the people I work with. It helps us all to be real, and our authentic self is where we are at our very best.
